State Bar of Georgia ADR Section — Panel Discussions and Officer Elections
On May 7, 2026, the State Bar of Georgia’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section, E-Discovery and the Use of Technology Section, and Young Lawyers Division co-sponsored a CLE and networking event at the State Bar’s Atlanta headquarters. IADR’s Doug Witten co-chaired the event, along with YLD’s Nathan Miles, in which an expert panel of attorneys, judges, and mediators discussed the growing impact of AI on litigation and ADR practices.
The event featured opening remarks by State Bar President Chris Twyman. Additionally, the ADR Section elected its 2026-27 officer slate, among which Doug Witten was appointed Chair.
On April 22, 2026, Doug co-moderated an ADR Section program entitled, “Using Co-Counsel in Your ADR Practice.” This discussion highlighted how an AI legal tool can be incorporated into arbitration and mediation to enhance efficiency and accuracy of results.

From April 8-11, 2026, Doug Witten was in Nashville, TN, to attend a premier annual event for healthcare law professionals.
Now in its 27th year, the Emerging Issues in Healthcare Law Conference (EMI) brings together top legal minds, regulators, and industry leaders to tackle what’s new, what’s next, and what matters most in healthcare.
Doug has been an active ABA member and leader for years, and his participation in this event reinforces his commitment to excellence and innovation in the health law field.
Emory University School of Law — Panel Discussion
On March 31, 2026, IADR’s Doug Witten visited Emory University School of Law to serve as a guest panelist. Doug and other experienced attorneys addressed a First-Year (1L) class to discuss career planning, the journey from law student to legal practitioner, and tips for overcoming challenges and thriving in the legal profession.
Panelists answered student questions and engaged in lively discussion, providing guidance and suggestions about practicing law in private firms, in-house roles, and government settings.
